How I designed my own custom build + design tips I’ve learned over the years.

First, I had to decide on a style: Then I stuck with it.

My Style: Subtle elegance. I try not to check off every box in the options list. Rather I try to get your eye to appreciate each room as a whole, then once you settle in, you see all of the interesting parts. Like how one moulding ties into the next, or how paneling wraps from one room to the other with ease and flow.

Design Tips to live by…

-Invest in high-quality furniture, but don’t splurge on accessories

-Do more with less.  Instead of purchasing many different items, choose fewer pieces that have a bigger impact

-If you can’t afford to buy everything at once slowly replacing each item with something new.  Keep your eye out for a sale on your favourite items.

Design Tip: Prevent clutter with a great storage system in the mudroom and laundry room

-Put functionality first. Use more practical decorating schemes yet added stylish touches

-Choose neutral tones for your home’s walls Then add brighter hues with a few accent accessories such as wall art

-Make lighting a priority for principle rooms.

-No matter what style you’re trying to create, lighting is always one of the most important elements of a room

-Simplicity is key: Choose fewer pieces that pop

-Create a cohesive design. Choose tones that complement the room’s design. Don’t have pieces compete with each other.

-Balance: The trick is to keep the colours balanced. Choose two or three primary colours, then add additional colours as accents.
